ADVICE FOR EX-STUDENTS ON COMPLETING  UCAS APPLICATIONS

  1. Go to the ‘UCAS Apply’ website: http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/apply/

  2. Click on ‘Register 2012’ – complete this section, making sure you keep a note of your password and username.  Then choose the option log-in.

  3. On the ‘How are you applying’ page – Apply as an individual.  (if you have already applied through BHASVIC rather than as an individual, you will need to contact UCAS and ask them to change your application over to ‘Applying as an individual’).  Keep a note of your personal ID no.

  4. Go to ‘Log in’ and complete all the requested sections of your application on the UCAS ‘Welcome’ page.  It is important that you do this before requesting a reference, so that we can make sure your reference reflects your course choice. Please make sure that you check your application carefully –  ensuring you use your full name (including middle names), correct fee code (usually 02 LEA) and list ALL your exams (including AS levels) with the correct grade and board in the correct sections.

  5. Then request your reference from BHASVIC:  On the UCAS ‘Welcome’ page, go into ‘Options’ at the bottom of the list.  Choose ‘ask a registered school, college or organisation to write your reference only’.  You will be asked for a buzzword which is BHASVIC12.   Once you have forwarded your request for a reference from BHASVIC, please inform Heather by e-mail (h.osullivan@bhasvic.ac.uk ) mentioning your reference request, ex-student status and full name.  (Please note your reference will include your achieved exam grades when you left full-time education at BHASVIC. If your grades have changed or you have re-sat exams, please include the subjects and new grades.  Also let us know if you are re-sitting exams in the future, so that we can include this in your reference).

  6. The College will then accept your application, and in due course add your reference.  When we have completed and attached a reference to your application, your reference section will be ticked (please allow up to 10 working days for your reference to be attached).

PLEASE NOTE:  ONCE WE HAVE ATTACHED YOUR REFERENCE, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEND YOUR APPLICATION TO UCAS.
