Learning Support Teachers provide help with:

breaking words into bits (syllabification)
What help is available?
- One to one support within a group setting
- Structured study within a supportive environment
- Computer provision and training in software
packages such as Inspiration, Dragon Dictate and Texthelp.
Help is provided by:
- Discovering your preferred learning
style
- Focusing on language difficulties to
help the student
- Proof reading, checking written
work and correcting mistakes
- Working out strategies with the
student to learn how to spell difficult words
- ‘Unscrambling’ long tightly
packed sentences
when reading subject texts
and exam questions
- Developing learning approaches so
that individual students can apply knowledge to tasks
set, and to ‘stage’ work so it can be completed by the
deadline
- Using Assistive Technology including
suitable software packages, voice recognition computer
systems and specialist equipment for sensory impairment.
