Why study these subjects?
You want to work in an area within the leisure, travel
and tourism industry. Perhaps you want to be a holiday
rep, cabin crew, work your way to management or continue
studying this area to a higher level? These subjects all
allow progression to the work place or to further study.
Students who choose the AS/A Level
will study this subject alongside a range of AS Levels
or GCSEs over two years. The National Certificate Level
3 course runs for one year.

What is the course
content and how is it assessed?
AS Level
You will take a course in which you must complete 3 mandatory
units:
- Introducing Travel & Tourism. Assessed
by an examination.
- Customer Service in Travel & Tourism.
Assessed by a portfolio of work.
- Travel Destinations alos assessed by
a portfolio of work.
A Level
You must complete a further 3 units:
- Tourism Development. This is assessed
by an examination.
- Event Management. Assessed by a portfolio
of work.
- An optional unit, one from a choice of
4 possible.
The examination is based on a case study
which you are given in advance of the examination itself.
All three units carry the same marks.

The general entry requirements for studying at Advanced
level apply, and a minimum of grade C in English GCSE is
preferred.

Where will these courses lead
me?
Successful completion of Advanced Travel & Tourism
and Level 3 provides an excellent foundation for employment
in one of the many areas of the Travel and Tourism industries.
Successful completion will also allow you to progress into
degree level work in Further or Higher Education.
