With
the completion of the last panel it is at length possible
to appreciate the artist’s message as a whole. When speaking
at the beginning of the Autumn Term, 1928, he told the School
of his feeling that, through all the changes of history, there
remained something enduring in types character. Again and
again he brings this out, no only in his principals, but also
in the crowds, whether they surround the Roman prefect, William
the Conqueror, Henry III, William Coxon, or George IV. |
