Future Tech Leaders Award Winners

BHASVIC Computer Science students Dan Bowers, Tom Bulled, Robert Maye and Ed Weatherley have won a prestigious Future Tech Leaders award in the national Apps For Good competition, competing with over 27,000 students to win their award. As the winning team, Kognition will now work in partnership with developers from Thomson Reuters to create their application; an educational app designed to help teachers reduce student anxiety by using technology to enable them to answer questions in the classroom.

Apps For Good helps young people learn to create apps that change their world, showcases students ideas and lets them pitch for the opportunity to take their skills and idea to production. The Future Tech Leaders award seeks to find the next generation of digital entrepreneurs.

Computer Science students at BHASVIC have been successful in a number of competitions in recent years, as four time winners of the BEBRAS Computing Challenge with several students also being invited this year to participate in the Cyberstart Elite mentoring programme as part of HM Government's Cyber Schools course designed to ensure more people enter the cyber security profession.
