Rugby

Programme Overview:

BHASVIC rugby is based on the key values of the sport and seeks to develop all players no matter their ability.  In conjunction with 02 Rugby, we run a performance programme that gives members 4 ½ hours training each week with experienced and highly qualified staff, as well as a video analysis session.  The focal point of the programme is to further the players ability, understanding and enjoyment of the sport.

The squad competes in games in the AoC Sport South East Regional League and Sussex County Leagues and Cups.  In addition to these, our squad partakes in the National NatWest Cup, the British College League, County Sevens as well as the excellent Roslyn Park Sevens.  This level of competition has developed players to national representation and is consistently challenging for honours at the end of season.

Notable Highlights from Recent Years:

In the 2015/16 season, the Rugby squad finished as champions of the Sussex County League, as well as beating Collyers in the Sussex County Cup Final!  Following on from this success, the team ended the 2016/17 season with a second consecutive league triumph in the Sussex County League, as well as winning the County 7s Tournament and reaching the Sussex County Cup final that year too!  A third consecutive Sussex County Cup final appearance ensued in the 2017/18 season, this time ending in victory against East Grinstead!  This success was followed by a third consecutive Sussex County League title!

Season 2021/22 Highlights:

Our Rugby boys started the season strongly by winning their first league game in the AoC Sport South East League and winning their first Sussex County Cup fixture as well!  Despite the bright start, injuries began to plague the squad, but they were competitive throughout the season and finished the season well!
