AoC Sport National Championships 2026 Results

Last weekend marked a fantastic display of sporting excellence at the Association of Colleges (AoC) National Championships 2026, hosted at the University of Nottingham. The championships brought together colleges from across the country, with teams competing in more than 20 sports after earning qualification through their regional tournaments.

In football, BHASVIC’s Women’s Football Academy proudly represented the South East of England following their regional success earlier in the season. The tournament was played over two days in a round-robin league format, with teams competing for the highest overall points total. BHASVIC made a strong start, finishing the first day as the only unbeaten team in the competition – a remarkable achievement at national level.

Sunday saw the team contest their final three matches. Despite a narrow and hard-fought 1–0 defeat to eventual champions Exeter College, BHASVIC finished an outstanding third overall. Securing a place on the national podium is a huge accomplishment and reflects the squad’s quality, resilience and teamwork throughout the tournament.

The South East of England also enjoyed outstanding overall success at the championships, being crowned winners of the AoC Sport National Championship for the third consecutive year. Finishing top of the table with an impressive 137 points, the region was awarded the prestigious Wilkinson Sword trophy. BHASVIC played a key role in this achievement, with the Women's Football Academy's strong third-place national finish making a valuable contribution to the South East's points total, underlining the impact the college has had on this national stage.

The BHASVIC team’s momentum continued shortly after the championships, as they completed the county semi-finals with an emphatic 11–0 victory against Thomas Bennett. This result secured their place in the county finals, where they will face Worthing College. The final will take place at Lancing FC on 5 May, with kick-off at 7.30pm.

We welcome everyone to come and support the team in their final battle for silverware. It's sure to be a great match!
