BHASVIC Students Reach Finals in Imperial’s Science in Medicine Competition

A team of five BHASVIC students - (pictured left to right) Momoko Waters, Saffy Zyambo, Erin Wooldridge, Dora Cepeda-Henao, and Bertie Strydom - have been named top 10 finalists in the national Science in Medicine Team Competition, hosted by Imperial College London.

The national competition, run by Imperial’s British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence, invites school teams to explore cutting-edge medical science through five themed contests. Each contest offers a £3,000 prize for the winning team, along with a mentoring session with an Imperial academic, providing students with a unique opportunity to engage with world-leading researchers.

Team BHASVIC entered into the Rare Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease Alliance (RAIRDA) Prize contest with an innovative ePoster design proposing a device to improve the quality of life for individuals living with rare autoimmune diseases. Their work stood out among entries from some of the UK’s most prestigious schools, highlighting how scientific creativity and ambition can thrive in all educational settings.

As finalists, the team will now prepare for the final judging stage, where they will present their ideas to a panel of Imperial College researchers and academics. We wish the team every success as they head into the final stage of the competition.
