Dr Annie Russell Inspires Aspiring Doctors

On 30th September, trainee GP Dr Annie Russell visited us to talk about a range of aspects of her work. She covered what inspired her to enter medicine, as well as her interest in women's sexual health, on which she has completed a significant amount of research as part of her training. Her talk was interesting and inspiring in equal measure for a large audience of our students from Medics Society, Chemistry Society, and our Women in STEM student society. What was particularly engaging was the way she fielded questions about what some of the highlights and challenges of being a doctor were, which enabled our students to really see what it could potentially be like on a day-to-day basis. These insights were invaluable to our students who themselves want to follow in her footsteps!

"I really enjoyed the talk by Dr Annie Russell yesterday, because I found it so impactful! She was a super inspiring speaker, and it was wonderful to hear about her experience of going into medicine and how to handle challenges."
