Medics and Oxbridge Offers 2026

BHASVIC is celebrating its students who have received offers to study at Oxford or Cambridge, as well as a record year of success for students applying to study medicine, dentistry and veterinary science at university, with 61 students securing offers across these three highly competitive disciplines.
The College’s 75% success rate is well above the national average of 10–20%, reflecting both the commitment of students and the specialist support provided through the Medic Tutorial Pathway. In total, students gained 124 offers, highlighting the strength of applications across the cohort. BHASVIC’s experienced team of medical tutors play a key role in this success, supporting a diverse cohort of students, 68.9% of whom hold offers from Widening Participation backgrounds, including those receiving bursaries, Additional Learning Support, young carers, and students who are the first in their family to attend university.
A2 students benefit from weekly medical tutor groups, alongside our new Medics Plus course, which provides an additional 90 minutes each week to focus on areas such as ethics, communication and interview preparation. Reflecting on this, A2 student Bertie Strydom said:
“Medics Plus is an invaluable portfolio course that was a game-changer in my application journey and helped me achieve multiple medicine offers.”
The continued success of the programme is also supported by strong links with the local medical community and numerous enrichment opportunities. Read more here: Medics Update Spring Term 2026
Medical Futures Coordinator, Stella Coleman, commented:
“We are very grateful for the continued support from BSMS, our alumni and local doctors, who make a real difference in helping students prepare for medical applications.”
Thirteen students received offers to study medicine at BSMS, our local provider, while six secured places at the University of Bristol, which requires applicants to achieve a top 10% score in the UCAT admissions test. In addition, Rufus Drewett, Thea White and Amber Sisman each gained offers to study medicine at the University of Cambridge.
We are also delighted to add that 49 of our students have received offers from Oxford or Cambridge for 2026, with two more awaiting the outcome of their foundation year application. Offers have been made for 27 different Oxbridge courses across a diverse range of subject areas, with particular success in Engineering, Medicine, HSPS and History, as well as offers for more unusual choices like Land Economy and Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic. All of our students did us proud in what is always a highly competitive process globally.
