Student Success at Regional Mock Trial Competition

On Saturday 22 November, a team of BHASVIC students won the South East Regional Heat of the Bar Mock Trial Competition at Southampton Crown Court. Competing against other colleges in front of real judges, our students took on the roles of barristers, witnesses, clerks, ushers, and jurors to deliver a realistic courtroom performance.

The Bar Mock Trial is a national extra-curricular competition that gives students the chance to experience the legal process first-hand. Each college receives two cases and must prepare both prosecution and defence arguments. Our team worked hard to learn their roles and statements, whether presenting as barristers, giving evidence as witnesses, or supporting proceedings as jurors and court staff. The competition helps students build skills in critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork; even for those not planning a career in law.

Winning the regional heat means these BHASVIC students will compete in the National Finals next March. Congratulations to everyone who took part, we look forward to seeing your efforts at the next stage.
