Holding the Council to account

BHASVIC Student Union and staff attended a local election accountability assembly on Thursday 20th April as part of the college's work with Citizens UK at The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Brighton on Thursday 20th April.

It was great to see members of our student union and students from other colleges presenting their asks to the two potential leaders of the council, holding them to account on stage. The campaigns discussed include safe spaces across the city, affordable & safe transport, and mental health provision. Students spoke passionately and eloquently whilst getting commitments from the council nominees to make real change in our community if elected.

These assemblies are a great example of democracy in action and in getting young people fired-up about having their voices heard by those in power and we're proud of everyone who took part.
