BHASMAS 2023

Always a highlight of the enrichment calendar, our Student Union organised a fantastic BHASMAS this year featuring something to suit everyone looking to get into the festive spirit.

Kicking off the event in the Main Hall were performances from our talented music students with a range of covers and original pieces to get the crowd moving, followed by the History departments very own 'Des Kapital', performing his festive Communist Karaoke. Once the last notes of 'I'm loving Engels instead...' had drifted away the Christmas Quiz began with the largest number of teams every recorded. Hopefully all those Christmas quizzes in Tutorial over the last week gave students a little head start on some of the trivia.

The Christmas Market returned again this year with our Young Entrepreneurs will be selling surprise boxes, jewellery, clothing and more. There was also a selection of Christmas bakes and BHT (Brighton Housing Trust) sold charity Christmas Cards. For students looking for an immersive Christmas experience Home Alone was screened and our Elms Building social space was filled with board games for students who wanted to avoid the busier parts of the event.

This year's BHASMAS also featured some new activities including an a Multi-Faith winter celebration, showcasing all the cultural events taking place this season, alongside a cultural bake sale. Whilst our Young Entrepreneurs took over the Sports Hall to run Basketball and football challenges for £1 a go, with prizes include £80 cash, Spotify vouchers and sweets. Rumours of Principal William Baldwin volleying the football straight through the target followed by a first time 3 pointer in the basketball challenge are yet to be verified...

Thank you to everyone who made the event a success especially our Student Union, Lauren our Student Union Coordinator and Mia our Events & Enrichment Officer. See you next year!
