BHASVIC Chemistry Olympiad 2024 – a record breaker!
This year, we had more students taking the Round One Chemistry Olympiad competition than ever before. 78 students sat this grueling two hour paper full of deductive, problem-solving style questions similar to those found on University level chemistry papers, but drawing on A-level chemistry content.
This competition allows students to demonstrate resilience and willingness to take on a challenge, character traits highly prized by Universities themselves and employers alike! Well done to all our intrepid A level chemists who gave this a go, irrespective of the outcome!
Out of the students taking part, a significant majority were first year students, even though this competition is aimed at second years. This makes their achievement all the more remarkable and is testament to their problem solving skills and readiness to push themselves early on in their A level course. This will no doubt be very beneficial to their UCAS applications later in the year.
Out of the 78 students who took part, they achieved.
• 22 x Bronze certificates
• 11 x Silver certificates
• 3 x Gold certificates
