BHASVIC Graded Outstanding by Ofsted

Following a full Ofsted inspection in December 2022 inspectors graded BHASVIC as ‘outstanding’ in all areas. This assessment followed the new inspection framework, placing a greater emphasis on students’ personal development and enrichment, and marks 10 years the college has been graded Outstanding.

Principal William Baldwin reflects on the report:

“I am so proud of our students, staff and governors who were able to give the Ofsted inspectors an honest and inspiring insight into what being part of our college community is like. We are delighted that Ofsted recognised that teaching and learning at BHASVIC is stimulating, effective and inspiring but we are really pleased that they have recognised the BHASVIC culture of support, inclusion and participation that puts staff and student well-being at the heart of our college.

We have worked tirelessly since our last inspection in 2012 to ensure that we continued to retain our outstanding ethos and have evolved to meet the changing needs of our students and the wider education and employment landscape. I am pleased that the report recognises our commitment to sustainability and green initiatives, as well as the support we offer some of the most vulnerable members of society such as asylum seekers and children in care.

To be assessed as Outstanding in all areas of the expanded inspection framework illustrates our commitment to ensuring students receive more than just excellent education and outcomes at BHASVIC. Over their two years with us students are also equipped with the personal skills, enrichment opportunities and tailored careers support to make a meaningful contribution to society, and to carry their love of learning into a variety of progression routes.

I am delighted that our staff and students’ enthusiasm for BHASVIC has shone through in the Ofsted report and would like to thank our entire college community including parents/carers, local businesses and community groups, for their involvement. As we reflect on ten years of being graded Outstanding I know we will continue to work to our ethos of being a contemporary, creative learning community, and ensure we offer the best possible learning environment for our students for years to come."
