HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visits BHASVIC

On Wednesday 4th October we were delighted to welcome HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh to BHASVIC to celebrate our students' success in the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards. As part of his visit The Duke spent time baking and packaging cakes with local charity Bake a Difference Sussex. BHASVIC DofE students have worked closely with this charity, using the college's catering facilities the college day to bake and distribute delicious treats to those most in need across the city.

The Duke's tour of the campus coincided with college lunch break and he was more than happy to speak to the crowds of students that gathered, making jokes and wishing them all the best of luck with their education. The visit concluded with presentations from DofE students on the highlights from the four aspects of the DofE - Physical, Volunteering, Skills & Expedition - with The Duke hearing from Silver and Gold participants and taking the time to ask questions and thank the students for their contribution to the scheme.

A key part of our enrichment offer BHASVIC students can sign up to the Silver or Gold Award during their time at the college and have the support of a committed team of staff and students to gain the most from taking part.
