Mental Health Campaign

BHASVIC students along with other local colleges were invited to attend a meeting this week with Brighton & Hove council members to lobby on behalf of Citizens UK who are calling on the UK Government to make it a legal requirement to provide counselling in primary, secondary schools and Further Education colleges in England. The event was a great success with an agreement for members of the alliance to meet with Cllr Sankey and her Officers in mid-January to look at the costing and practicalities of rolling out counselling across the city.

BHASVIC Wellbeing Ambassador Fi reflected ‘We had the chance to speak to a key decision maker in Brighton and Hove to share our stories about the realities of why we are working on this campaign. It was an incredible opportunity and everyone got involved. We all dressed up in festive attire, made props to demonstrate, physically, what we were asking for and even engaged in some carolling at the end. We are thankful for this experience and are looking forward to our next meeting in the new year!
