Peter Kyle MP visits BHASVIC

Thanks to Peter Kyle MP for Hove & Portslade for coming to speak to our students last week along with his dog Fred!

The Main Hall was full of interested students from across the college - and a must see event for all Politics students - as Peter shared some of his journey through education and into politics before taking questions. Lots of thoughts and reflections on local, national and global politics including Peter's time as Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, winning his current seat and what to expect from a general election year. Peter championed the need for sensible politics to disrupt populism and emphasised the need to bring people together.

After his talk our students asked lots of challenging questions on topics such as the Israel Gaza conflict, trans rights, and sustainable policies, and Peter remained behind afterwards to speak to any student whose question wasn't heard in the allotted time. It was also great to see recent BHASVIC graduate Ben who is now working for Peter prior to starting University in September.

There will be plenty more local MPs from across the political spectrum due in to speak to our students over the next few months.
