Pride month at BHASVIC

We are proud to represent our LGBTQ+ students and staff at BHASVIC and wanted to highlight some of the ways we celebrate this community during Pride Month.

Each week our LGBTQ+ society meets at college representing a safe place for queer people and people who are questioning their sexuality to hang out and talk about queer politics, eat snacks and chill together. The society aims to create a strong sense of community and make sure that the people who join our society feel supported and are comfortable to express themselves and ask questions. This week there is a session on queer books whilst next week there will be a presentation on 'Queer Coding'.

We are also delighted to confirm that BHASVIC will once again be represented at Brighton Pride this year by students and staff from across our community. Our Student Union and LGBTQ+ will lead on organising the event open for everyone interested.

As the sun has been shining it's also been fantastic to see Language Assistant Fiona sat outside Student Services conducting French conversation sessions with her Progress Flag proudly displayed. Conversation topics have included criminalisation of homosexuality in French speaking countries and the history of the progress flag.
