Ex-BHASVIC Film Studies Student becomes
Radio 1's film critic

Twenty-two-year-old Rhianna Dhillon from Brighton is Radio 1's new film critic.

Ex- BHASVIC Film Studies student Rhianna Dhillon, from Brighton, graduated from the University of Reading this summer and has been hired as Radio 1's new film critic, replacing James King who has left after 13 years at the station.

Rhianna Dhillon

Rhianna Dhillon said she was "thrilled", adding "I can't think of a more perfect job for me as it combines film and Radio 1. "I know this will be an incredible experience".

This is her first job in radio. Ben Cooper, Deputy Controller, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra said: "I'm looking forward to Rhianna's passion and knowledge connecting with the next generation of movie goers when she's talking with them on Facebook, Twitter and on the radio."

Head of Media, Film & Communications at BHASVIC, Alison Cousens, remembers Rhianna as a thoroughly committed and hard-working Film student. “Rhianna shows just what you can achieve within the media profession if you are willing to pursue your interests academically. Rhianna showed from the start that she had the potential to achieve both professionally and academically within Film. Her essays were a pleasure to read and she has clearly built on this specialist knowledge at University. We send her our warmest congratulations, and she now joins our BHASVIC Media Department ‘Hall of Fame’, with ex-students now working in all aspects of the media industry. We hope the achievements of all our ex-students continues to inspire current Media, Film & Communications students onto further success.”
